What is it like in his shoes – Interview with Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan

Looking back 30 years ago at the Philippines 1986, something that changed the lives of millions of people, it seems that today many had forgotten what happened. To the new generation, most of them think what martial law and Edsa revolution was like. that Martial Law was imposed for the good of the people.for the young generation, It is our country’s history. this is what you missed. it’s what you should pass on when you have kids of your own.

I think everyone is familiar about the name Gregorio Ballesteros Honasan II,better known as Gringo Honasan.A Filipino politician,a former soldier and leader of successful coups. He played a key role in the 1986 Edsa Revolution.that toppled the dictatorship of President Ferdinand Marcos. He entered politics and became a Senator from 1995 to 2004 and again since 2007.and now he is running for vice president in 2016.

12557816_10208054614179222_298692704_o

I was very young when martial law was declared, I didn’t even know what was like back then.Only on books that i understood its history. When i was in high school I only knew few things about him and his role during the Edsa Revolution and somehow ask What is it like to be in his shoes.I was in complete awe of getting this once in a lifetime chance of getting an interview of a man who i only knew on TV and Books.

We may see him as  a former soldier, built with a strong personality, perhaps a man survived with many bullets but you can say there’s more to something than meets the eye. not only a politician and a public servant, but also a father, a husband, a lolo to his grandchildren. This interview with former senator Honasan showed off his softer side when it comes to his family. What does an average day at work look like for gringo and his message for the younger generation.

To help create a relaxed environment in the BOARDROOM, a light question was ask to help break the ice. How does he spend his time during a typical day. his exact day-to-day activities. much to my surprise, he started getting up at 6 am to have his coffee and check his activities for that day. With so much of the day devoted to work, he believes that waking up early will have a result in better focus and more creative thinking. Since he is a former soldier, he practice the routine when he was in the military. Time is precious!

Someone ask him about what is his favorite movie? he said ”The Equalizer”   a 2014 American action crime thriller film stars Denzel Washington. He was very happy to share a quote from no less than Mark Twain: “The most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why.”

During the interview, first thing that came in my mind is to ask him what is his FEAR and how he keeps on living his life. Here’s what he has to say;

How do I de-stress myself? I Think of God, my God, our God whatever we call him, family and country. Have I ever been afraid of anything? I’m always afraid. I’m afraid now, as i have been before. I think I’ll continue to be afraid. considering I am a soldier,I am more afraid today. afraid of disappointing God – Honasan

He always believe that our family will always be our priority. like what he is fighting for the country. This is what he said during the interview.

Focus to something that is bigger than all of us without loosing the enjoyment of their youth. But we must not forget the importance and our responsibility. for the young generation, for the youth i’m asking for understanding and read more about what really happen during the Edsa Revolution, our mission is to build; magtatag ng mas matibay na pundasyon, para pag kayo na at wala na kami mas mag improve ang situation ng bansa, mas gumanda hindi yung sumama. Unity..Pagkakaisa… Work hard and must Pray Hard! Kaunlaran na matagal na naming pinangarap para sa inyo. – Honasan

I agree to K-12 Curriculum – Honasan

Okay ako dyan pero kulang yan! dapat pakainin natin ng maayos Nutrition between the ages of 0 to 6. dahil pag hindi mo nabigyan ng tamang nutrisyon ang bata, under develop ang utak, under develop ang katawan. it will be a big problem for the young generation if we keep this up. – Honasan

I was happy to ask this question…In your opinion sir, How can we unite our country?

(For the local Government)- Decentralization authority and responsibility for public functions from the central government to subordinate or quasi-independent government organizations and/or the private sector a variety of concepts which must be carefully analyzed in any particular country before determining if projects or programs should support reorganization of financial, administrative, or service delivery systems. National planning (NEDA) national economic development authority under law. Our land use, unang-una dapat natin alamin, saan o dapat ilalagay yung residential, industrial, commercial, government recreational, educational centers, then alam na natin kung saan natin ilalagay ang kalsada, ang mrt, alamin ang solution ng traffic then opportunities will come in. investors will come in providing employment – Honasan

His message for the younger generation! he believes that it is the new generation of Filipinos who will keep the spirit of People Power alive and relevant today.

That will define us kung saan tayo nanggaling. susundan mo yan ng saan natin  gustong pumunta. – Honasan

image

ONE Championship, Asia’s largest mixed martial arts promotion, will kick off 2016 with a bang, as it brings its world-class MMA event to Changsha, China on 23 January. ONE Championship has set the stage for another thrilling night of world-class mixed martial arts action.

Taking place at the Changsha Stadium in Changsha, China, ONE Championship will delight fans with an electrifying lineup of exciting fights headlined by a main event which will see ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes defend his title against challenger Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon of the Philippines.

“ONE Championship continues its dedication to cultivating the sport of mixed martial arts in China with another adrenaline-filled night of fights,” said CEO Victor Cui, in a statement released to the media.

“This is a great way to start 2016 and is just the tip of the iceberg of what’s to come. Our success in Beijing sets the stage for an even better event in Changsha.”

ONE Bantamweight World Champion, Bibiano Fernandes of Brazil is one of the most dominant title holders in ONE Championship.

Considered one of the best fighters in the world and is ranked as one of the top bantamweights, Fernandes has amassed a stellar professional record which hasn’t seen him lose a bout in the last five years. His technical ground game paired with his fluid striking and well-rounded skills have brought him to the top of his division.

Fernandes will now defend his title against a very strong competitor in Kevin Belingon.

Kevin Belingon of the famed Team Lakay stable in Baguio City, Philippines has long been one of the most exciting fighters in ONE Championship’s roster.

Belingon possesses fearsome striking power brought about by his high-level Wushu background.

His highlight reel of spectacular finishes has seen him victorious against the top fighters in his division, and he now looks to make the most out of his much-anticipated crack at ONE Championship gold when he takes on defending champion, Bibiano Fernandes.

Apart from the main event, a slew of international and local mixed martial artists are expected to perform. The event will also hold the Changsha Bantamweight Tournament which seeks to discover the next local MMA superstar.

Two Beijing Featherweight Champs to Battle Inside Cage

Beijing featherweight champions Li Kai Wen (4-2) and Yang Sen (2-0) are set to stand across each other inside the ONE Championship cage this 23 January, at ONE Wujie: Dynasty of Champions which takes place in the Changsha Stadium in Changsha, China.

The bout will serve as part of the undercard to the main event between reigning ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes as he takes on Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon of the Philippines.

Li Kai Wen is on a nifty three-fight win streak, clinching the first instance of the Beijing Featherweight Tournament Championship with two wins in just one night.

He defeated opponent Nathan Ng by TKO in his most recent outing.

An explosive finisher, Li brings electricity to the crowd with his fast-paced and powerful striking and has the ability to end a fight at any given moment.

Li’s opponent, Yang Sen enjoyed an eventful 2015, winning the second iteration of the Beijing Featherweight Tournament.

Yang’s impeccable striking and well-calculated offense has brought him success inside the ONE Cage, as he looks to prove that Chinese fighters are truly world-class mixed martial artists.

It will be a battle of local martial arts superstars when Li and Yang finally step inside the cage, and one that fans are definitely looking forward to.

The Changsha event is part of an ambitious two-year plan laid out by ONE Championship, that sets to stage over 20 live events over the course of a two-year period. The promotion, Asia’s largest and most prolific, has held successful shows previously in Beijing and Shanghai. They will look to replicate their success this time in Changsha, in what looks to be a great year for the organization.

Part of ONE Championship’s phenomenal growth plan is developing local mixed martial arts heroes, particularly in China where the market is largely untapped but steadily booming. With the rise of heroes such as Li Kai Wen and Yang Sen, the promotion is headed in the right direction.

The growth of MMA in the region can also be attributed to ONE Championship’s aggressive expansion.

The most important resolution you should make this 2016

image

Let’s face it: most people are looking forward to the new year as this means a new beginning—and for people who want to look and feel better, losing weight as a resolution may just be the right way to start. Or is it?

“The New Year does not serve as a catalyst for sweeping changes in your body, more so in your overall health,” said Carmie de Leon, vice president for sales and marketing of Healthway Medical. “In fact, now is the right time to reflect on past behaviors that may be affecting your health, and resolve to making positive lifestyle changes in preparation for next year and for many more years to come.”

According to de Leon, setting small but attainable goals are better than making big goals but later on, fail to meet them. But she says that “you need to make it happen.”

As Filipinos list down their resolutions for 2016, it is important to put healthy living on top of the list, de Leon said.

“By making more realistic New Year’s resolutions, there is a greater chance of keeping them all-year round. As for your health, your resolution towards a healthier you should start in the most attainable way. More so, you should start now,” de Leon emphasized.

De Leon continued, “Your lifestyle change can start from minimizing cigarette smoking, lessening alcohol intake or exercising more religiously. But whatever lifestyle changes  you want to make for next year, what matters most is that the changes are for your health.”

The use of new products usually do not respond well on the skin because we all have different skin texture and condition that will lead an awful and unnatural result because the result cannot be seen.
